Botanical name : Galanthus nivalis from the family Amaryllidaceae / Gardensnowdrop

The latin name is coming out of the greek language and means as much as Gala > milk (white color), anthos > blossom and nivis > snow.
The Snowdrop is a white blooming tiny little flower, just a few inches high, its location in shady deciduous forests or in the garden. And it´s mostly growing through the snow at the end of winter. The official blommingtime is between Feb. and March, but in gentle winters you can see the little white bells looking out of the snow already at the end of January. If you are a little gardener, you have to buy some bulbs in falltime and digg it into eath. There the bulbs will wait ove the winter until early spring and than they take all their energy and begin to bloom. - The Snowdrop also contains some poisonal Alcaloids, also the Ganlanthamin, which can make you symtoms like vomiting sickness,Diarrhoe, day dreaming, contractions of the pupils.
But the latest sience results are showing, that the Galanthamin not only is a poison, but also can be a Medicin. It comes into action at geratric dement ( hope I found the right word) people, also persons with beginning Alzheimer desease.
My personal Snowdrops in my small garden are “belling” me every year :
Spring´s coming , Spring´s coming, Spring´s coming ... ing ing ing !!!

Snowdrops are the Morning Stars of Flowers.
