Once upon a time there was a powerful and strict king who had a beautiful daughter.
But the girl was spoiled, because all of her requests were carried out. Once it was winter and there was
snow everywhere in the big garden of the castle where the trees were in winter sleep. The princess looked out of the window and shouted:
- Why aren't any flowers blooming in the garden? They told her: - It is winter, princess. The weak flowers would freeze now.
The princess was very angry and she shouted: - My father is the most powerful king. I want flowers in winter in my garden.
When the king heard it he said to the gardener: - By tomorrow morning, by the time the princess wakes up I want the garden to be full of flowers.
The gardener turned pale and said: - Majesty what kind of seed I should sow which is able to become flower in the snow?
The king went red and he started shouting: - I'm the most powerful king in the world and I don't care what you sow, you can sow starlights, too. I
just want flowers by tomorrow morning. But if there aren't any flowers you will die.
The gardener went away and he was very sad because he knew that he would die. He asked lots of
gardeners but nobody could help him. When the night arrived he went to the garden. It was a very
beautiful and clean night and the stars were shining in the sky. The gardener looked at the sky and said:
- Beautiful stars, please help me. Show me where I can find magic seeds, which will become in the snow.
And suddenly some shining dust started flying down to his hat and it looked like starlight.
The gardener thanked the stars for the present and at that night he sowed the entire garden. The next
morning when the princess went to the window she could see millions of flowerstars in the snow. She
could see the little green stems on the white snow and there were flowers all around the garden.
The princess was very happy and started clapping and she ran into the garden. Her servants ran after
her, because she had left her coat inside. But the princess didn't care about it and she was dancing among the flowers as if it had been spring.
The king started looking for the gardener but he was nowhere. He disappeared from the country, but the
people who had met him said that he had been very sad.
And the flowers were blooming and shining and the princess was running among them and laughing. Then
suddenly a cloud came from the snowy mountains. And the cloud blow icy wind on the princess. She
shivered and ran back to the palace. She became very ill and the doctors couldn't help her. The wind kill
the princess but the little white flowers disappeared, too, and the winter came back again.
Since that time, the wonderful white flowers have bloomed in the snowed gardens and fields every year
but nobody believes them because they aren't sent by the spring: they're the children of the stars..
